DAILY POST ARTICLE MISLEADING
The National Council for Building a Better Fiji is surprised by the Daily Post report published in the front page of today’s edition with the headline, “REJECTED”.
As far as the NCBBF is concerned, the Tailevu Provincial Council is keeping its door open for our teams to engage in dialogue with villagers and obtain submissions from them.
This is a positive indication that the people of Tailevu want to engage with the NCBBF and be part of the process towards the formulation of the People’s Charter for Change, Peace and Progress.
At no such point did the Tailevu Provincial Council reject the NCBBF as highlighted in the article.
The NCBBF team was led by Adi Finau Tabakaucoro, Ratu Meli Vesikula and TASS officials.
“The Tailevu Provincial Council has given its blessings to our PR teams to conduct consultations with all stakeholders in the Province with regards to the People’s Charter work”, said Adi Finau following the presentation at the provincial council meeting yesterday.
To say that the NCBBF was rejected is misleading to say the least.
The NCBBF has been assured of the contribution from the people of Tailevu.
It is most unfortunate that Daily Post reporter Ms. Nanise Volau spoke to the Chairman of the Tailevu Provincial Council and yet did not highlight this into the report.
The NCBBF is pleading with journalists to exercise care to ensure accuracy while reporting on such matters.
